What to see in Florence
The Duomo complex —the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with Brunelleschi's dome, Giotto's bell tower and the Baptistery— is the centre of everything. A few steps away, the Uffizi Gallery gathers works by Botticelli, Leonardo and Raphael, and the Accademia Gallery houses Michelangelo's David.
Piazza della Signoria and the Palazzo Vecchio are the city's political heart. Across the Ponte Vecchio, the Oltrarno district has the Pitti Palace, the Boboli Gardens and artisan workshops. For the best view, climb to Piazzale Michelangelo at sunset.

Spring and autumn are the best seasons. Summer is hot and busy; winter is quiet and perfect for museums.
